Kaolack : un maître coranique arrêté, il faisait payer le « transport » de moutons inexistants
A 26-year-old Quranic teacher, El HM Niass Diankha, was arrested on May 21 by the Kaolack Research Section (SR) for fraud, blackmail, identity theft, and obtaining property through electronic means. The suspect, a resident of Darou Rahmati, allegedly took advantage of the sheep donation campaign of the Mohamed Rassoul Dieng Foundation (MRD), a very active social organization, according to Libération in its Saturday, May 23 edition.
According to the daily newspaper, he had created a fake Facebook account in the foundation's name, linked to his own phone number. Through this account, he solicited 10,000 FCFA from impoverished individuals, claiming it was for the transport of a sheep supposedly donated by the MRD. At least nine people were deceived by this scheme. The alarm was raised by a victim named PA Diop.
Having been informed of the fraudulent use of its identity, the MRD Foundation has filed a complaint, the same source adds.
