Kolda : La douane saisit 115 kg de cocaïne à Kalifourou
Customs vigilance at Senegal's borders continues to bear fruit in the fight against international drug trafficking. One month after an initial seizure, the Kalifourou customs commercial brigade, part of the Kolda subdivision (Southern Regional Customs Directorate), intercepted, on Friday, October 17, at around 9 a.m., 115 kg of cocaine hidden in the bodywork of a Toyota Tundra car, arriving from a neighboring country. The 100 drug packets, carefully packaged and hidden in specially designed compartments, tested positive for cocaine by the National Laboratory of Technical and Scientific Police.
The market value of this seizure is estimated at 9.2 billion CFA francs, a figure which demonstrates the scale of the trafficking and the effectiveness of the investigative techniques implemented by Senegalese customs.
Two foreign nationals were arrested during the operation. The investigation is continuing to dismantle the networks involved and understand the cross-border ramifications of this trafficking.
An all-out mobilization
This latest interception is part of a broader effort to secure the territory. Land, sea, and air customs units are continuing their crusade against illicit trafficking with renewed determination. The Customs Administration is calling for active collaboration from the population to strengthen this common front against drugs and other forms of contraband.
