The central police station in Dakar, under the command of Divisional Commissioner Mamadou Tendeng, conducted a large-scale security operation on the night of Saturday 8 to Sunday 9 November 2025, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. All units of the police station were mobilized to reinforce security in areas considered high-crime areas of the capital and to reassure city residents.

Following this large-scale operation, police officers arrested 169 individuals for various offenses, according to Seneweb sources. The majority of arrests involved identity checks, with 105 people checked; 35 individuals were arrested for public intoxication, and nine were detained for questioning.

Police also arrested several drug dealers: two people for possession of marijuana for personal use, one for possession and trafficking of marijuana, and another for offering and supplying marijuana. In addition, one person was arrested for possession and trafficking of ecstasy. They were found in possession of 13 pills.

Regarding the thefts, five individuals were caught in the act of theft committed at night, one for robbery with violence on board a vehicle and another for conspiracy and robbery in a group committed at night.

Other offences were also noted: three people for fighting in public, one for breach of trust, one for fraud, one for sexual harassment, one for destruction of property belonging to others and another for collecting personal data.

The operation also resulted in the seizure of 313 items for various traffic violations. One vehicle was impounded and four motorcycles were immobilized.

This large-scale operation demonstrates the police's commitment to ensuring security in Dakar and to effectively combating crime and antisocial behavior.
