Following the release of Saint-Louis Mayor Mansour Faye, imprisoned in Rebeuss in connection with the Covid-19 Force funds affair, supporters of Louga Mayor Moustapha Diop raised their voices yesterday at a press briefing inside the town hall, demanding the immediate release of their mentor.
They have therefore decided to organize a peaceful march tomorrow, Saturday, in Louga to demand the immediate and unconditional release of their leader, who has been in custody for six months in Rebeuss prison.
"We call on all Lougatois to come and participate in the Saturday march to push the judicial authorities to release our mayor, the victim of an arbitrary and political arrest," said Souleymane Jules Diop, a political leader and close associate of Mayor Moustapha Diop.
His supporters are also demanding justice and dismissing the accusations against the Louga mayor in the Covid-19 Force funds and Tabaski Ngom affair. "He was arrested just to eliminate a political opponent, but the current regime should know that Moustapha Diop will continue to lead the town hall in all the upcoming elections," said Mr. Sylla.
