Mbao : Arrestation d'un agresseur qui écumait la forêt et la plage de Sipres
The territorial brigade of the Industrial Free Zone arrested the notorious assailant, named Mr. Ngom, who was spreading terror around the Mbao forest and on Sipres beach. This 28-year-old self-proclaimed mechanic was brought before the Pikine-Guédiawaye High Court this Friday for multiple robberies with violence and intentional injury.
For several months, the residents of Mbao lived in fear. Armed with a knife or a machete, Mr. Ngom operated mainly at night, attacking isolated people near the Mbao forest and the Sipres beach. His aggressiveness allowed him to mercilessly rob anyone who had the misfortune to cross his path. His victims numbered in the dozens. Some were interviewed by the police. They described the same modus operandi and drew the same profile of the attacker.
His arrest was the result of intense investigations conducted by the men of Chief Warrant Officer Abdou Fama Guèye. All reports pointed to the same individual, which allowed investigators to gradually tighten the net around the suspect.
The police arrested him at his home in Keur Massar at 7 a.m. Confronted with the charges against him, the alleged attacker confessed, according to Seneweb sources close to the prosecution.
The announcement of his arrest sparked a real feeling of euphoria and relief among the people of Mbao, who can now move around more peacefully.
As for Mr. Ngom, he will have to answer to the charges of multiple robberies with violence and intentional injury, charges which could earn him a heavy prison sentence.
