Médina : le faux mendiant aux béquilles s'est avéré être un redoutable...
A. B., a 52-year-old Guinean national, used his disability as a cover to sell crack cocaine. Stationed daily at the corner of 05 and 06 streets, crutches under his armpits, he feigned poverty to deceive passersby.
For several days, the Medina Criminal Investigation Brigade (BR) observed his actions. His furtive interactions with suspicious clients contrasted sharply with his status as a beggar. Last Thursday, the police decided to intervene.
Upon spotting the detectives in front of a shop, the man in his fifties tried to mislead the police, but his nervousness betrayed his guilt. A standard pat-down was immediately carried out.
The search proved fruitful: concealed among his belongings, a packet of crack (crystallized cocaine) was discovered, as well as a sum of 5,000 FCFA, which, according to investigators, came from his last transaction.
Faced with the evidence, A. B. admitted his involvement in selling this hard drug. True to the "code of silence," however, he refused to reveal the identity of his supplier. Despite his disability, he was granted no concessions. At the end of his detention, he was brought before the Dakar prosecutor's office on Friday for supplying or offering drugs, reports L'Observateur.
