The investigation launched after the gruesome discovery at a construction site in the Cité Dabakh neighborhood of Tivaouane has taken a major turn. After several days on the run, the main suspect was finally located and arrested by officers from the Saint-Louis police station in a house where he was hiding with the help of a fellow countryman.
The accused is L. Camara, a 28-year-old Bissau-Guinean bricklayer. He was staying on the construction site with the victim before disappearing abruptly immediately after the incident, Libération reports in its edition of Saturday, December 27.
The same source reports that the victim has been identified as Yaya Faty, a 28-year-old Guinean national. His body was found buried under the foundations of a house under construction. At the crime scene, investigators seized a machete, traces of blood, as well as a bracelet and clothing belonging to the deceased.
