Ministère de l'Énergie : Le Collectif des 44 agents dénonce 20 mois sans salaire et annonce une marche nationale
The labor dispute is escalating at the Ministry of Energy, Petroleum, and Mines. The group of 44 employees currently on strike has spoken out to denounce what it calls the illegal confiscation of their salaries and social benefits. According to the workers, this precarious situation has persisted for over 20 months.
Despite a series of institutional commitments and decisions at the highest levels of government, members of the collective assert that their reinstatement remains blocked by unjustified administrative delays. They specifically cite the signing of the decree establishing the Geological and Mining Development Management Committee in December 2024, as well as the Social Pact for Inclusive Growth signed by Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko on May 1, 2025.
The workers make no secret of their bitterness at the gap between official pronouncements and the reality on the ground. They emphasize that despite repeated instructions from President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and the effective establishment of the Management Committee in October 2025, the mining administration authorities seem to be clinging to a position of dismissal that they consider arbitrary.
The group deplores the fact that the authorities remain fixed on their desire to illegally dismiss decent workers and criticizes the lack of effect of the conciliation meetings previously held at the Ministry of Labour.
Faced with this impasse, the Collective has decided to take the fight to the streets using legal means. A large protest march is officially planned in the streets of Dakar on Friday, January 16, 2026. This action will be followed by simultaneous sit-ins in front of all regional mining offices across the country on Thursday, January 22, 2026.
Determined to prevail, the 44 agents affirm that they will exhaust all legal and civic avenues to end this situation and obtain their immediate reinstatement.
