Niague : le Collectif du journal Le Soleil alerte sur un “faux bail” de la SOCABEG et demande justice

A serious land dispute is shaking the locality of Niague, opposing the company SOCABEG (Société d'Aménagement de Bâtiment et d'Études Générales) to a collective including workers from the Coopérative du journal le Soleil, as well as agents of the defense and security forces.

The group claims to have legally acquired the site in 2015 from a certain Narcisse.

He accuses SOCABEG, a company recognized as a major player in social housing construction, of trying to seize the land by brandishing a lease deemed fraudulent. According to the plaintiffs, this document was allegedly issued by Mamour Diallo and is nothing more than a "fake lease," as stated by their spokesperson, El Hadj Ibrahima Thiam.

"We are about a hundred people, fathers and mothers of families, who have invested a lot of money in the site. SOCABEG is also known today for being a land speculator, which is trying to take over the whole area," he denounced.

The conflict has escalated into physical confrontations. The plaintiffs accuse SOCABEG of building a wall despite a court order halting construction. In response, workers and members of the security forces erected barricades to demonstrate their resolve. "From now on, it will be war, just like in war," declared El Hadj Ibrahima Thiam.

Despite protests and legal proceedings, the case remains stalled. The matter, pending before the courts, is not progressing. Letters sent to the Head of State, the Prime Minister, and the Minister of Urban Planning have gone unanswered.

"A complaint has been filed with DESCOS and has been referred by the Prosecutor, but the investigation remains at a standstill," added the spokesperson.

The group is now calling on the new Director General of DESCOS to "get moving and expedite the situation," recalling that the former Director General had given "firm instructions" to the Rufisque branch to move the case forward. The plaintiffs conclude by reaffirming that "all the documents are in our favor" and urge the Senegalese government to investigate the conditions under which SOCABEG's lease was granted so that justice may be served.

L’état doit demander à Simon Preira, opposant et rebelle Bissau guinéen de quitter Ziguinchor. C’est une menace grave pour la sécurité publique. Diomaye doit être ferme comme Emballo est parti lui aussi
