Noël : Talla Sylla joint sa voix aux prières et chants de ses frères et sœurs de la communauté chrétienne
"In Senegal, when a Christian is happy, the Muslim smiles; when one prays, the other says 'Amen'." This observation comes from Talla Sylla, former advisor to President Macky Sall and former mayor of Thiès.
On this blessed day, the leader of Jëf Jël, through a declaration under the theme: "The Light of Christmas, our Common Sharing", reminds his brothers and sisters of the Christian community of this desire to live together which transcends dogmas to reach souls.
“On this blessed Christmas day, as the bells ring and hearts are filled with fervor, I would like, with humility and affection, to join my voice to your prayers and songs.
I am writing to you as a Muslim, deeply attached to the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH), but equally convinced that the message of Jesus (Issa Ibn Maryam) is a divine breath that we share.
His birth was a miracle, his life a lesson in humility, and his call to love one's neighbor a universal requirement.
In Senegal, God has given us the immense grace of living our faith not as a border that separates, but as a bridge that connects.
When a Christian rejoices, a Muslim smiles; when one prays, the other says "Amen." This harmony is not a coincidence, it is a precious heritage, a will to live together that transcends dogma to reach souls.
On this feast of the Nativity, I make the fervent wish that Peace — that “Jamm” which is so dear to us — floods every home.
May the spirit of Christmas remind us that we are, first and foremost, brothers and sisters in humanity, passengers on the same ship, united by the same destiny.
May this day be one of sharing, of outstretched hands and of peaceful hearts.
