Oussouye : Kaguitte cultive la paix et l'intégration entre communautés bissau-guinéennes et sénégalaises
The populations of Kourein, Etafoun, Kaguitte Proman and Youtou, in the department of Oussouye, in Senegal, and those of the villages of Élalab, Éramé and Kassoule, on the side of Guinea-Bissau, met in Kaguitte to revitalize their alliance of good neighborliness, cohesion and social peace, and lay the foundations for the development of their lands which live the same traditional and cultural realities.
"It is a laborious, but very constructive, path to strengthen the Senegalese-Bissau-Guinean friendship, to make the different peoples of West Africa, of Africa in general, understand that it is indeed possible to save the African community, the West African community, through cross-border initiatives, the ideals of good neighborliness," according to Daouda Diédhiou, president of the Senegalese-Bissau-Guinean Alliance for Peace and Integration.
"Since 2012, we have undertaken to implement this label of international reunion of peace and integration. We continue to give the people of Senegal and Guinea-Bissau the opportunity to demonstrate that it is possible, despite the difficulties of underdevelopment, the conflicts that have undermined our development, the crisis in Casamance and the more political crisis in Guinea-Bissau, to overcome problems and reconcile the different communities," he continued.
President Daouda Diédhiou thus draws a positive assessment of the organization's achievements in Cacheu, Guinea-Bissau, in terms of peace and security, with the return of peace in Casamance, and in terms of the movement of people and goods on both sides of the border.
Justine Manga Bassène, the mayor of Niassya, welcomed this initiative, which marks international reunions and the integration of cross-border countries. She believes the Senegalese-Bissau-Guinean Alliance for Peace and Integration can play a catalytic role in social cohesion between peoples and in the search for peace in Casamance.
This meeting in Kaguitte was also marked by the presence of several administrative authorities from both countries.
