Quatre faux terroristes maliens arrêtés à Mbour : La machination d'un fils pour escroquer son père !
The Research Brigade (BR) of the Mbour gendarmerie company has achieved another major success by dismantling a vast criminal network. According to exclusive information obtained by Seneweb, investigators arrested four Malian nationals on October 25th who had orchestrated a fake kidnapping by terrorists to extort money from the relatives of the victim, who was an accomplice in the scheme.
A son complicit in his father's fraud
At the conclusion of the investigation, the four con artists, including the victim's son, were brought before the High Court of Mbour. I. Coulibaly, the biological son of the victim A. Coulibaly, collaborated with K. Sidibé, the gang leader, as well as M. Konaté, K. Diarra, and S. Camara to stage his own kidnapping and extort money from his father.
First contact: the threat of death
One of the accused, posing as a Mr. Mballo, contacted A. Coulibaly to inform him that his son Issakha was in Morocco preparing to travel to Spain. He told him that his son's life was in danger unless he paid 1,500,000 CFA francs. Panicked, A. Coulibaly immediately sent 750,000 CFA francs to the supposed Mr. Mballo.
The escalation: new threats and second installment
A few days later, K. Sidibé contacted A. Coulibaly via WhatsApp, threatening to harm his son if he didn't send the rest of the money. Desperate, A. Coulibaly sold his cattle and sent another 500,000 CFA francs.
The appeal from Spain that arouses suspicion
A few days later, I. Coulibaly called his father from a Spanish number to tell him that he had arrived safely in Spain, but that his kidnappers were still mistreating him to demand the remaining money. Worried, A. Coulibaly then contacted his eldest son, D. Coulibaly, who lived in Spain, not only to inform him of Issakha's presence, but also to verify the facts.
After checking, D. Coulibaly revealed to his father that the number was indeed Spanish, but that it was located in Senegal. The deception was thus uncovered.
From Mali to Senegal: the complaint
A. Coulibaly leaves Mali and arrives in Senegal at the home of one of his relatives living in Dakar. Together, they go to the Colobane Research Section to file a complaint against M. Mballo, now a fictitious character, and his accomplices.
Locating and arresting the network
The gang member using Mr. Mballo's identity was located in Malicounda. Investigators from the Dakar Research Section then directed the complainant, A. Coulibaly, to the Research Brigade of the Mbour Gendarmerie Company.
Upon arrival at his destination, the complainant was questioned at the premises of this elite unit located in Saly. The investigations carried out following a surveillance operation led to the arrest of Mr. Konaté, K. Diarra, K. Sidibé and I. Coulibaly, the complainant's son.
Placement under a deposit order
The four Malian swindlers were brought before the High Court of Mbour and placed under arrest warrant, according to Seneweb sources close to the prosecutor's office.
This case highlights the sophisticated methods used by transnational fraud networks, which do not hesitate to exploit the most sacred family ties to achieve their criminal ends.
