Riz brisé ordinaire : Les nouveaux prix fixés par le Conseil régional de la consommation de Thiès
A regional development committee (CRD) was held today at the Thiès governorate for the validation of the new prices for broken non-fragrant rice set by the Thiès Regional Consumer Council.
At the end of this meeting, Khadim Ndiaye, head of the Regional Trade Service, announced a significant decrease in the price of ordinary broken rice decided by the State.
"The wholesale price of broken non-fragrant rice is set at 283,000 CFA francs per ton, a decrease of 45,000 CFA francs. The price of a 50 kg bag is set at 14,150 CFA francs, a decrease of 2,250 CFA francs. The price per kilogram has gone from 360 to 310 CFA francs, a decrease of 50 CFA francs," announced Khadim Ndiaye.
He pointed out that since June 2024, the price per kilogram has decreased by 105 CFA francs, representing a reduction of 5,050 CFA francs per bag.
Khadim Ndiaye clarified that these new prices take effect immediately in the markets. He also announced the implementation of a monitoring, oversight, and follow-up system to ensure that these prices are effectively enforced across all markets in the region.
Ababacar Sadikh Niang, the deputy governor, stated that this measure is in the public interest and contributes to improving the purchasing power of the population. He called on all stakeholders to fully play their role in ensuring the proper implementation of these new prices throughout the Thiès region.
