Rufisque : Elle finance son mariage, son faux mari disparaît le jour J
A rather unusual case is shaking the town of Rufisque. The urban security services of the central police station have arrested a 29-year-old mechanic named Mr. Fall, accused of identity theft and marriage fraud.
According to the investigation, the suspect allegedly framed Mrs. D. Samba through social media. It all started with a simple text message sent by mistake, which served as the starting point for a virtual relationship between the two. The exchanges quickly turned into a romantic relationship, without the two ever meeting in person.
To gain the woman's trust, the fake suitor assumed the identity of a certain Meissa Ngom, president of a sports and cultural association (ASC) in Zac Mbao, well-known in local sports circles. He sent the young woman photos of the latter, pretending to be him.
A few weeks later, Mr. Fall took a further step by proposing marriage to D. Samba. He even contacted the young woman's uncle and a date was set for the ceremony. To demonstrate his "good faith," he asked his fiancée to cover the wedding expenses, promising to reimburse the next day, according to Seneweb sources.
With confidence, the woman borrowed around 300,000 CFA francs to organize the ceremony and inform all her family and loved ones.
But on the big day, when the guests had already gathered at the family home and the time to leave for the mosque was approaching, the fictitious groom became unreachable.
It's only later that the deception unfolds. The disillusionment is brutal for D. Samba, who has fallen victim to a scam orchestrated from start to finish. Not only does she find herself in debt, but she must also face the humiliation of her family and guests gathered to celebrate a phantom wedding.
Following investigations, Mr. Fall was finally arrested and placed in police custody at the Rufisque central police station. He is the subject of a complaint filed by the complainant D. Samba.
