Saint-Louis : Quatre fêtards arrêtés par la police avec de la drogue au Pont Faidherbe
A large-scale enforcement operation conducted by the Saint-Louis police resulted in the arrest of four individuals in possession of narcotics. The suspects, who had come to spend the weekend in the 300-year-old city, were referred to the prosecutor's office for possession and collective use of hashish and Indian hemp.
On the night of Saturday, September 20th to Sunday, September 21st, 2025, the sleuths deployed a security operation at the entrance to the legendary Faidherbe Bridge. This large-scale operation aimed to control vehicles and passengers using this strategic axis of Saint-Louis.
At around 4:30 a.m., a 4x4 vehicle carrying four occupants was stopped for a routine check. The operation then took an unexpected turn.
The compromising discovery
Elements of the Research Brigade of the Saint-Louis central police station, under the command of Chief Commissioner Mamadou Lamarana Diallo, carried out a thorough search of the interior of the vehicle.
It was under the front passenger seat that they made the discovery: a tube containing drugs identified as hashish. This discovery immediately changed the nature of the intervention.
When questioned, the four occupants of the vehicle gave their names. They were Mr. Diallo, 42, a driver born in Pikine, passing through Saint-Louis; T. Konaté, 44, born in France, also passing through the city; D. Ndiaye, 42, a driver born in Dakar; and AKBarro, 42, who identified himself as a Sen Eaux agent, born in Pikine.
All presented themselves as visitors who had come to spend a relaxing weekend in the northern capital.
Denials then confessions
At first, the four friends denied ownership of the substance discovered in their vehicle. However, the investigation would soon convict them.
A search was conducted in the furnished apartment they had rented in the Vauvert housing project. There, investigators discovered two cones of Indian hemp in the room occupied by D. Ndiaye, according to Seneweb sources.
Faced with the evidence, Ndiaye finally confessed. He said he had obtained the Indian hemp from Pikine Technopole, allegedly for his personal consumption.
Regarding the hashish found in the vehicle, he claimed that this substance was intended for them to "enhance" their weekend in Saint-Louis, specifying that it was T. Konaté who had obtained it.
Scientific confirmation
To remove any doubt, a requisition was sent to the Technical and Scientific Police Laboratory to analyze the nature of the seized substance, in a quantity of 15 grams.
The results formally confirmed that it was indeed cannabis resin, commonly known as hashish. This expertise helped strengthen the prosecution's case.
The drugs were sealed and deposited with the registry of the Saint-Louis High Court. After observing the legal period of police custody, the four suspects were brought before the Saint-Louis prosecutor's office on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
They are being prosecuted for possession and collective use of hashish and Indian hemp.
