Saly : Une mannequin cap-verdienne surprise en plein vol dans la villa d'un dignitaire religieux
A case of furniture and appliance theft has shaken the Marina residence in Saly. The events, which took place on the night of February 1st to 2nd, 2026, led to the arrest of a foreign national.
The suspect, BS., of Cape Verdean origin, who claimed to be a model and was visiting Saly, was handed over to the police by the manager of villa number 11-A, owned by a religious dignitary. The alarm was raised on the morning of February 2nd by an architect in charge of renovations at the property, who noticed the disappearance of numerous belongings.
A nighttime move under the watchful eyes of security
According to the investigation, the stolen items include two dining tables, eight chairs, a sofa, a stove, and a microwave. While some of the furniture was recovered in a neighboring villa, the stove and microwave remain missing.
The investigation conducted by the Judicial Police of the Saly-Portudal Urban Police Station uncovered damning testimony. A security guard stated that he caught the young woman moving a sofa around 1:00 a.m. Deceived by the woman's audacity in claiming to be a resident, the guard even helped her, unaware of the crime.
During her hearing, B.S. denied any criminal intent. She attempted to shift the blame to a recent acquaintance, a certain "Papiss," who she claimed had invited her to the villa and asked her to move the furniture. Investigators found her explanation unconvincing.
Police suspect the existence of an organized network. Their modus operandi appears to involve squatting in unoccupied villas to store stolen goods before selling them on the black market.
At the end of her detention, the model was brought before the Public Prosecutor at the Mbour High Court. The search continues actively to identify and apprehend her alleged accomplice, who remains at large.
