On the night of December 19-20, 2025, the Thiès region was the scene of a large-scale, combined security operation called "ARR SUNIOU GOKH". This strategic initiative was chaired by the Minister of the Interior and Public Security, who was accompanied by the Director of Public Security, the Governor of the region, and the Commander of the Gendarmerie Legion.

The operation relied on operational synergy between the National Police and the Gendarmerie, with a tactical deployment organized along two main axes. Firstly, strategic checkpoints were established and manned by the Urban Corps, the Gendarmerie, and the Mobile Intervention Group (GMI). Secondly, plainclothes patrols were conducted by the Research Brigades in the heart of high-crime areas.

To ensure the success of this mission, the authorities deployed 260 personnel, including 100 from the GMI (Mobile Intervention Group) and 60 gendarmes, supported by 8 intervention vehicles. The night's security operation resulted in 32 arrests, including 24 for identity checks, 5 for public intoxication, 2 for theft, and 1 caught in the act of theft.

In terms of traffic enforcement, law enforcement seized 132 administrative documents, impounded 8 motorcycles, and towed 10 vehicles. These traffic operations also resulted in the collection of fixed fines totaling 183,000 FCFA.

At the conclusion of the mission, the Minister of the Interior and Public Security addressed the nation, expressing his deep satisfaction with the results achieved. He congratulated the Defense and Security Forces for their bravery and resilience in the field, urging them to maintain this proactive and firm approach to ensure the long-term security of citizens.
