Sédhiou : Les habitants de Sitaba érigent des barrières contre les accidents mortels récurrents
The village of Sitaba, located in the commune of Diendé (Sedhiou department), has become a hotspot for road accidents, causing deep concern among the population. Faced with the recurrence of tragedies, often spectacular, resulting in injuries or deaths, residents have decided to take matters into their own hands. Last Saturday, they mobilized and erected barriers along the village in anticipation of formal speed bumps to force drivers to slow down. Sitaba is regularly the scene of accidents, often involving public transport vehicles or trucks.
The toll is high, with serious injuries and even loss of life caused by failure to comply with safety rules. For residents, these "civic speed bumps" are a matter of survival. They believe that until the state puts in place adequate signage or approved safety devices, these homemade obstacles are the only effective way to save lives and protect pedestrians and pets.
