Sédhiou : Un maçon de 60 ans arrêté par l'OCRTIS avec 20 kg de "yamba"

Elements of the regional narcotics brigade (BRS) of Sédhiou caught a drug trafficker this Thursday, November 6, around 7 p.m. B. Bayo, a 60-year-old mason, was arrested on board a minibus coming from Dakar with 20 kg of Indian hemp ("yamba"), according to Seneweb sources.

The operation was triggered following intelligence indicating that an individual known to the police was on board a transport vehicle en route to Sédhiou with drugs.

This is how BRS investigators set up a discreet, low-key operation at the entrance to the town of Sédhiou. A minibus coming from Dakar, after stopping in Carrefour-Diaroumé (Sédhiou region), was stopped for a check. The suspect identified by the police was on board. A search of his bag revealed five blocks of marijuana.

When briefly questioned about the origin of the drugs, B. Bayo readily confessed to having acquired them in Kantapor (North Sindian). He specified that he had taken a bus near Diaroumé to reach the town of Sédhiou.

Taken to the headquarters of the OCRTIS's BRS (Brigade de Recherche et de Sécurité Sociale - Research and Security Brigade), the drugs were weighed. They totaled 20 kg of the so-called "green" variety. The trafficker was taken into custody at the Sédhiou central police station. The investigation continues to determine the extent of his network and identify any accomplices.
