Sédhiou : Une fillette de 8 ans mortellement fauchée en plein Gamou à Bani
The village of Bani, located in the commune of Sakar (Sédhiou region), is plunged into shock and mourning. A tragic traffic accident occurred on the Carrefour Ndiaye-Kolda road, claiming the life of young F. Solly, an 8-year-old student of Arabic studies.
The accident occurred while people were celebrating a traditional family Gamou. The little girl was violently struck by a private vehicle, license plate DK 9493 BB, which was speeding through the town. The extremely brutal impact caused shock and outrage among the residents who witnessed the tragedy.
Faced with the irreparable damage, an enraged crowd attempted to attack the vehicle and lynch the driver. It took a swift and decisive intervention by members of the Sédhiou territorial brigade, under the command of Warrant Officer Saliou Gueye, to secure the scene and extract the driver, thus preventing mob justice.
The victim's body was taken to the morgue at the Sédhiou Regional Hospital by firefighters from the 43rd Fire and Rescue Company. The driver, identified as A. Bathily, was taken into custody before being brought before the public prosecutor.
