Sénégal : Endeavour Mining présente son rapport d’impact 2021-2025

Endeavour Mining, which operates the Sabodala-Massawa gold mining complex in the Kédougou region, firmly believes that "it is impossible to extract value from the land without creating it sustainably for the countries and communities that host it." To demonstrate this conviction, the company presented its Senegal 2021-2025 Impact Report. This document highlights the positive impact its presence has had on the daily lives, jobs, and prospects of families, as well as on the businesses it supports in their development, not to mention the environmental improvements it promotes at its production sites and in their surrounding areas.

The official presentation ceremony took place on Monday, June 29, 2026, in Dakar, under the chairmanship of Dr. Ousmane Cissé, technical advisor and representative of the Minister of Mines and Geology. The event was also attended by the Managing Director of Sabodala Gold Operations, Mr. Aziz Sy, who is also Vice President of Public Affairs for Senegal, Mali, and Guinea at Endeavour.   Mining ; the Director General of SOMISEN, Mr. Ngagne Demba Touré; the President of EITI Senegal, Mr. Thialy Faye; the Technical Secretary of CNSCL, Dr. Mor Bakhoum; and the President of the Saraya Departmental Council, Mr. Moussa Danfakha, among others.

1,500 billion CFA francs in economic contribution to Senegal

This report, entitled “Creating Tangible Value,” reviews five years of achievements in social, community, and environmental development. It highlights the concrete contributions generated by the Sabodala-Massawa mining complex from 2021 to 2025. The document reflects a simple conviction: “A mine can only create sustainable value if that value fully contributes to the priorities of the country in which it operates.” The objective is to make the mine’s presence a driver of sustainable progress for the communities.

According to the managing director of Sabodala Gold Operations , between 2021 and 2025, Endeavour's overall economic contribution   Mining revenue benefiting the country amounted to 1,500 billion CFA francs, equivalent to 1.7% of the national GDP. Over the past five years, Mr. Aziz Sy revealed that the mine has paid 324 billion CFA francs in taxes, royalties, and contributions to the State of Senegal, thus directly contributing to the financing of public priorities and the strengthening of national resources.

“This contribution commits us. It obliges us to continue the exemplary behavior expected of a leading mining player: to produce responsibly, respect our commitments, strengthen local content, develop national skills and contribute to the development of host communities,” argued Aziz Sy.

He adds: “While each ounce of gold produced generates significant economic value, our responsibility goes beyond mining production. Since 2021, we have invested 18 billion CFA francs in structuring community programs, supporting local priorities: health, education, access to drinking water, electrification, women’s economic empowerment and local infrastructure.”

These investments, explains the director general , "translate concretely" into classrooms built, electrical networks deployed, water points created and income-generating activities supported.

A solid foothold in the national economy

The positive impact of Endeavour Mining   In Senegal, particularly in the Kédougou region, Sabodala-Massawa's impact is also measured by its integration into the national economy. According to Aziz Sy, thanks to a network of over 600 Senegalese suppliers, 81% of the company's procurement budget is spent directly in Senegal. Through local employment, national purchasing, and skills development, Sabodala-Massawa contributes to boosting Senegalese businesses, supporting thousands of indirect jobs, and stimulating economic activity across the country.

Endeavour's Vice President of Public Affairs for Senegal, Mali, and Guinea also expressed his company's pride in operating in Senegal. "We are proud to operate in Senegal, a country whose stability, long-term vision, and dynamism make it one of the economic powerhouses of West Africa. This trust honors us. It also requires us to continue to demonstrate high standards, humility, and responsibility," said Mr. Aziz Sy.

As a reminder, Endeavour Mining is one of the world's leading gold producers and the largest in West Africa. Its mission is to produce gold that generates tangible value for individuals and society.
