Situation hydrologique du fleuve Sénégal à Podor : la montée des eaux se poursuit, la population appelée à la prudence
The level of the Senegal River continues to rise at Podor, confirming an upward trend observed for several weeks.
This Wednesday at 8 a.m., the hydrometric gauge installed at the El Hadj Boubou Sall quay showed the river to be at a height of 5.62 meters, compared to 5.60 meters yesterday at the same time. This variation represents a rise of 2 centimeters in the space of 24 hours.
For comparison, at the same time last year, the river level reached 5.55 meters, 7 centimeters less than this year.
It should be remembered that the alert level set at 5 meters for the town of Podor has been exceeded since September 14, 2025. A situation that calls for vigilance.
The authorities are calling on local residents to remain cautious, vigilant and mobilized in the face of changing water levels, which could lead to flooding risks in lower-lying areas.
