Six commerçants floués : les instructions bidon et les livreurs piégés à la brigade de la Foire et au commissariat des Parcelles Assainies
Six retailers specializing in the sale of shoes, mainly online, had filed a complaint against X. In unison, they had declared that they were victims of a duo who placed orders with them before disappearing into thin air as soon as they received the products, in Hlm Grand-Yoff or Scat Urbam.
Libération, which relays this case in its Saturday edition, reports that the accused presented themselves each time as gendarmes or police officers on duty, respectively, at the Foire brigade or the Parcelles Assainies police station, according to the complainants' account.
The newspaper reports that upon arrival of the packages at the designated location, one of the alleged scammers receives them and hands the delivery driver an envelope containing "instructions" to be delivered to the targeted gendarmerie brigade and police station. The drivers, thus sent into the lion's den, the same source continues, were instructed to hand the envelopes to Gendarme Sow and Police Officer Diop, phantom agents. The scam was complete.
Once alerted, the Grand-Yoff police station launched a manhunt for the duo. They were unmasked: they were A. Guèye and S. Sidibé, who were themselves delivery drivers, according to Libération.
The daily newspaper reports that they were arrested in an alley in Scat Urbam. "When questioned, they admitted to the charges against them, stating that they had resold the shoes they received on the black market in Colobane and Patte d'Oie. The damage caused to the affected merchants is estimated at over 750,000 CFA francs," Libération adds.
