Tabaski : La Fondation Sénégal Solidaire ferme le robinet des aides individuelles !
The National Foundation for Solidarity in Senegal has clarified its intervention strategies in the lead-up to Tabaski, after noting an unusual surge in requests for assistance. In a press release dated May 5, 2026, the organization emphasizes the need to refocus its efforts on structural projects with a lasting impact, rather than limiting itself to one-off aid.
“We want to maintain a relationship of transparency and respect with citizens,” the text emphasizes, outlining three priority areas: a focus on concrete, collective initiatives; addressing vital and social emergencies; and a call for citizen collaboration. “Unlike past practices, the Foundation’s work does not involve distributing one-off aid or individual grants linked to religious or social events,” the note clarifies.
Priority given to medical emergencies and collective projects
The Foundation will continue to support costly medical treatments and critical situations, while encouraging Senegalese people to submit projects aligned with its mission of national solidarity.
Sénégal Solidaire is urging applicants to refrain from traveling en masse for requests related to religious events. This measure aims to preserve the dignity of citizens by avoiding fruitless waits, to allow teams to focus on major projects—particularly education and women's empowerment—and to guarantee fairness and efficiency in the use of resources.
“The aim is to prioritize actions that transcend the individual level and strengthen social cohesion,” the statement reads. In conclusion, the Foundation thanks citizens for their understanding and cooperation, reiterating that solidarity must be based on a principle of shared responsibility.
