Tabaski : Le message du Président Bassirou Diomaye Faye
President Bassirou Diomaye Faye celebrated Tabaski this Thursday. As is his custom, following the prayer at the Grand Mosque of Dakar, he delivered a message. At the outset of his speech, he expressed his gratitude to the Imam Ratib and all religious leaders. The Head of State then extended his wishes for peace, health, and prosperity to the entire Muslim community.
President Faye took the opportunity to send his greetings to our Christian compatriots who celebrated Pentecost a few days ago. For him, "this closeness between our religious holidays is the hallmark of a people who have made mutual respect for beliefs the cement of their unity."
The head of state also emphasized that Tabaski, through the sacrifice of Ibrahim, reminds us "that we must know how to renounce a part of ourselves for what is greater than ourselves." This, he said, is a lesson in faith, "a lesson in civic duty that speaks to the republic we want to build."
The Head of State did not ignore the difficulties experienced by many citizens during this festive period: "We are aware of the efforts that many of you have made to celebrate this holiday properly. To those who were able to do so, I express my gratitude. To those for whom conditions did not allow it, I express the solidarity of the nation," he said.
The President of the Republic reminded the nation that the very essence of Tabaski is sharing. He asked religious and traditional leaders to "continue to include the country in their prayers." He also asked them to pray for the Lions, whom he described as soldiers "who have gone to defend the nation's colors in the 2026 World Cup."
