Thially (Thiès) : Découverte d'un nouveau-né emballé dans un sachet en plastique
Horror struck the working-class neighborhood of Thially in the Thiès-Nord district with the heartbreaking discovery of a newborn baby, still alive but in critical condition. The infant was found wrapped in a black plastic bag left in front of a house.
A grim discovery disrupted the joyous atmosphere of a baptism celebration. "It was around 2 p.m., while crossing the street, that I noticed a bag moving slightly. I approached and heard a small, muffled cry…," recounts the shocked neighbor who made the discovery.
Alerted, people immediately stopped the baptism to help the infant, who, wrapped in a light cloth and placed in a plastic bag, was having difficulty breathing. He was rushed to the Ahmadou Sakhir Ndiéguène Regional Hospital in Thiès, where he was admitted to the pediatric department.
The police have opened an investigation.
