Thiaroye : un caïd arrêté
D. Mballo, the alleged mastermind of a multifaceted gang involved in drug trafficking and armed robbery, has been apprehended by the Thiaroye police. According to Les Échos, the suspect was arrested at his home while packaging illicit goods.
The operation, meticulously planned by the Research Brigade, began with a nighttime stakeout before an assault launched at the authorized time, around 6:00 a.m., the same source emphasizes. The newspaper reports that while his accomplice, a "jakartaman" (a term used for a street vendor), managed to disappear into the maze of alleyways after a frantic chase, D. Mballo was caught in his room, unable to conceal his arsenal.
The search uncovered a damning inventory: 8 packets of cocaine, 43 packets of hashish, a replica firearm, and, more unusually, a radio signal jammer. This electronic device allowed the gang to remotely disable the door locks, thus facilitating "clean" thefts from targeted vehicles without visible forced entry.
Police also recovered several cell phones, business stamps, and bags containing administrative documents. Analysis of these items led to the identification of victims, including B. Anne and B. Sall, who had reported thefts from their cars.
Brought before the prosecutor at the Pikine High Court, D. Mballo faces several charges: criminal conspiracy, hard drug trafficking, armed robbery, and use of jamming equipment. His accomplice is actively being sought, the daily newspaper adds.
