Thiès : Le meurtrier du marchand Sakhir arrêté par la police de Nginth
After stabbing the young merchant Sakhir to death, the alleged murderer fled the scene. Investigations by the Nguinth police led to his arrest. The arrest of the man nicknamed "Ndiol" was made possible thanks to the rapid intervention of members of the Mobile Intervention Group (GMI), who were stationed near the Sainte-Anne Cathedral in Thiès.
Police tell us that it was young citizens who informed the sleuths that a man had just stabbed a person at the Thiès central market. These GMI officers intervened and subdued the suspect before taking him to the police station.
When questioned about the murder, the accused stated that an argument with the victim over a shoe deal had escalated into a fight. He admitted to stabbing the victim twice with the knife he was carrying.
The police investigation at the crime scene allowed investigators to collect testimonies that helped reconstruct the facts:
1. The accused was wearing, without the knowledge of the owner, the shoes of a third party.
2. An altercation broke out, during which the victim attempted to calm the accused.
3. The suspect, unable to withstand this intervention, stabbed the victim twice, hitting him in the back and abdomen.
The murder weapon, a blood-stained knife, was sealed for further investigation. The suspect was taken into custody for assault and battery resulting in death.
