THIÈS : Les 5 présumés homosexuels arrêtés par la police placés sous mandat de dépôt
At the end of their detention, the five suspected homosexuals arrested by the police station of the 1st arrondissement of Thiès were brought before the Thiès prosecutor's office on Tuesday, December 23. They are Demba Sarr, Pape Modou Dieng, Ibrahima Thiam, Oumar Guèye, and Nianka Seck.
They were charged by the prosecutor with acts against nature and then remanded in custody at the Thiès prison. Their trial is scheduled for January 2, 2026.
As a reminder, on December 21st, detectives from the 1st arrondissement police station in Thiès arrested these five individuals following a tip-off about a gathering in an apartment in the Escale neighborhood. The investigation unit raided the location to apprehend the suspects.
A search of their room allowed investigators to seize various items, including petroleum jelly and pills. The investigators emphasized that the suspects were not caught in the act of committing unnatural acts, but they all confessed to belonging to the homosexual community during questioning. They then explained their presence in the apartment by claiming they had been invited by a member of their group to organize a fashion show at a restaurant in Thiès.
Investigators reported that one of the accused declared his HIV-positive status, specifying that he had not informed his companions of his serological status.
