Thiès : Un bœuf s'échappe au moment de la vente, une affaire de vol se dévoile
The Thiès court of flagrant offenses tried, this Friday, S. Kâ, 22 years old, a breeder, prosecuted for the theft of two oxen to the detriment of his uncle A. Kâ, as well as CT Kébé, a trader, prosecuted for receiving stolen goods.
In court, S. Kâ partially admitted to the charges. While he is being prosecuted for stealing two oxen, he claims to have stolen only one. "I stole only one ox. This ox belongs to my uncle. I had a money problem and I stole it to solve that problem," he declared before the court.
The second defendant, CT Kébé, for his part, contested the charges of receiving stolen goods. He explained that he had wanted to buy an ox as Tamkharite approached in order to slaughter it and resell the meat retail.
According to his account, a man named Elhadji put him in contact with S. Kâ. After negotiations, the two men reportedly agreed on a price of 450,000 FCFA. The trader claims he went to a sheepfold to retrieve the animal, but it escaped before the sale was finalized.
“I handed over the 450,000 FCFA, but I couldn’t get the ox back. They told me to go home and come back the next day. It was when I came back to get the animal that the police stopped me. I didn’t know it was stolen,” he claimed.
At the end of the proceedings, the public prosecutor considered that the charges were sufficiently established and requested four years of imprisonment for the defendants.
The court has taken the case under advisement.
