THIÈS : Une importante quantité de drogue et de produits impropres à la consommation incinérée
Approximately 95.569 tons of unfit-for-consumption products, including 5 tons of drugs, seized during various operations by the defense and security forces, were burned to ashes in the classified forest of Thiès on Wednesday, December 17. The operation took place in the presence of the Thiès authorities.
"It is with real pleasure that I preside over this official ceremony for the incineration of drugs and products unfit for consumption seized in the Thiès region. This important activity has the particularity of bringing together the prosecutor's office and the registry of the Thiès High Court, all components of the administration of justice, all the defense and security forces and all the administrations involved in the missions of protecting the population in its security and health dimensions, for the incineration of prohibited products seized during their various interventions, estimated at 95.569 t," said Ababacar Sadikh Niang, deputy to the governor of Thiès.
He added: "In a context marked by the resurgence of criminal acts linked to drug trafficking and use and the proliferation of illicit products on the market, such as narcotics, counterfeit medicines and various other food products unfit for consumption, it is appropriate to adopt a community-based and solidarity-based approach in the fight against crime."
This, according to him, explains this operation, which is the culmination of hard work and exemplary efforts involving all stakeholders in the Thiès region and which is part of the pooling of resources from all regional services, better coordination of actions by decentralized state structures and synergy of actions between all territorial actors, for greater efficiency in our collective mission, which is to satisfy the needs of general interest, the foundation of all our sovereign actions.
To this end, Ababacar Sadikh Niang reiterated the commitment and determination of all decentralized state services to preserving public health and the safety of the population. This is to ensure that public order, an essential condition for peaceful social life and harmonious and sustainable development, is never compromised.
The deputy governor to the relevant authorities, to the heads of departments and project and program managers, to the representatives of trade organizations and consumer associations, to the transport organizations, to the local press, who continue to contribute to the preservation of the safety and health of the people of Thiès.
"Unity is strength, and it is only through solidarity that we will be able to meet all the socio-economic and environmental challenges in the Thiès region. It is more than necessary to consolidate the gains and harmonize our actions and strategies in order to eradicate or drastically reduce social and economic delinquency in our region," concluded Mr. Niang.
