Tiktok, montages pornos, rançons… : le calvaire de dix victimes de chantage sexuel à Sindia
The Mbour court heard a case of unprecedented sexual blackmail last Tuesday involving two residents of Sindia: C. Guèye, a shopkeeper, and M. Thiandoum, a mechanic. According to L'Observateur, which attended the hearing, they are accused of having orchestrated the social destruction of ten young women in the town for nearly a year through a structured system of online predation.
The two suspects had developed a well-rehearsed modus operandi, the newspaper reports. They would retrieve or hack personal photos from their victims' TikTok accounts, which they would then manipulate using digital editing. The girls' faces were superimposed onto obscene videos, which were then widely disseminated on social media, publicly exposing their identities.
Some victims suffered a double blow. This is notably the case of K. Ndiaye, a hairdresser, whose TikTok account was hacked by the defendants, reports the newspaper of the Groupe Futurs Médias. It was allegedly used to send flirtatious messages to married men, provoking reprisals from their wives and such harassment that the young woman was forced to close her salon.
After months of torment, the ten victims decided to file a collective complaint. With the support of the gendarmerie, a trap was set for the blackmailers. C. Guèye allegedly demanded 10 million CFA francs to delete the compromising videos. He was caught red-handed while handing over an initial payment of 100,000 CFA francs, before implicating his accomplice.
At the hearing, the two men adopted opposing lines of defense. C. Guèye denied the facts despite his confession recorded during the investigation, while M. Thiandoum admitted to all the charges, detailing the division of tasks (collection of images for one, editing for the other).
The public prosecutor, describing the acts as "exceptionally serious" and referring to the existence of an "organized gang," requested two years' imprisonment for each of the defendants, along with a fine of 50,000 CFA francs. The verdict is expected on February 3, the same source added.
