Tragédie à Guédiawaye : La plage de Gadaye fait deux nouvelles victimes, portant le bilan à 58 morts
Gadaye Beach, located in the commune of Wakhinane Nimzatt in Guédiawaye, was the scene of a new tragedy at sea. Two teenagers were found dead this Thursday, September 25, 2025, early in the evening, causing shock and consternation in the neighborhood. According to information reported by L'Observateur, the events took place around 7 p.m. Swimmers discovered, a few minutes apart, two lifeless bodies washed up by the waves.
The victims, identified as Cheikh S., 16, and A. Ba, 15, were already exhibiting rigor mortis at the time of their discovery. The two youths were wearing only underwear, one gray, the other blue. Informed, the authorities quickly arrived at the scene. A team from the Wakhinane Nimzatt police, assisted by firefighters, carried out the usual investigations. The remains were then transported to the morgue at the Idrissa Pouye General Hospital in Grand-Yoff.
An autopsy has been ordered by the public prosecutor's office to determine the exact causes of death, while an investigation has been opened to shed light on the circumstances of the tragedy. This latest tragedy highlights the dangers of Gadaye beach, sadly known for its particularly violent sea currents.
Last August, the National Association of Lifeguards of Senegal sounded the alarm, calling for urgent reinforcement of security measures at this site. To date, at least 58 deaths have been recorded there, making this beach one of the deadliest on the Senegalese coast.
