The Thiès court sentenced Mr. D. Diop to two months in prison on Monday for theft. A fishmonger by trade, he was accused of stealing a bag containing watches from the central market in Thiès with the intention of reselling them. Following his arrest, he was remanded in custody.

In court, the defendant admitted to all the charges against him. However, in his defense, he pleaded unconsciousness, claiming he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

The public prosecutor, considering the theft to be undisputed, requested a two-month prison sentence. The judge followed the prosecution's recommendation and imposed the requested sentence.
