The municipality of Kaffrine announces that it has made available to SONAGED a brand new, "zero kilometer" compactor truck, intended to improve the collection and management of waste in the municipality.

This acquisition, part of the 2025 Annual Investment Plan (AIP), addresses the need to strengthen logistical equipment to optimize daily household waste collection in a rapidly expanding municipal area. Operational teams were facing a significant increase in waste volume as well as the expansion of their service areas.

The official handover ceremony took place on Thursday, November 27, 2025, in the presence of Mayor Abdoulaye Saydou Sow, Alassane Samb, Director of Administration and General Resources of SONAGED, the Regional Delegate of SONAGED in Kaffrine, as well as several heads of technical services.

The various speakers praised "the municipality's ongoing efforts in the area of public health." Alassane Samb encouraged "other local authorities to follow Kaffrine's example to improve environmental management at the local level."

According to the administrative and general resources director of SONAGED, the commissioning of this compactor truck will notably allow "a significant improvement in the territorial coverage of collection; a notable reduction in illegal dumping of garbage; a more regular and efficient removal of household waste and a sustainable strengthening of the living environment of the population".

This approach is fully in line with "the municipal vision aimed at guaranteeing a healthy environment and an efficient public service".
