Vente de terrains à Sangalkam : des délibérations falsifiées en cause
On Monday, a 63-year-old construction engineer, Mr. Mendy, appeared before the Dakar flagrante delicto court in a land fraud case. He is accused of selling seven plots of land in Sangalkam to a certain Ch. B. Th. Wathie, for a total loss of 81 million CFA francs.
According to the prosecution, the engineer allegedly gave the victim falsified documents, on which the signature and stamp of the former mayor, Oumar Guèye, were allegedly forged.
In court, Mr. Mendy admitted to signing a sales agreement and receiving $21 million. However, he denied falsifying any documents.
According to Les Echos, he claimed that the deliberations were provided to him by the Seck family and implicated other people. He also explained that he had left the city for health reasons at the time the complaint was filed.
The prosecutor requested that the law be applied. Defense attorney Théophile Cayossi argued for acquittal, noting the plaintiff's absence from the hearing and stating that 13 million had already been repaid.
The court will deliver its decision this Wednesday.
