Visa américain : Guy Marius Sagna dénonce un « business humiliant » pour les Africains
MP Guy Marius Sagna vehemently denounces what he calls a "shameful business" involving applications for American visas.
Indeed, the high rejection rate of US visa applications submitted by Senegalese in 2025 exasperates the parliamentarian.
According to him, 74% of US visa applications submitted by Senegalese citizens have been rejected this year. He considers this situation worrying and indicative of an unfair system towards African nationals.
"The United States is sovereign and has the right to set whatever rules it wants for entering its country. But this visa business where countries including the United States make a fortune off the backs of Africans is shameful," he denounces.
The MP believes that Senegal, as well as other African states concerned, should demand reimbursement of part of the visa fees from rejected applicants or consider applying the principle of reciprocity.
"Senegal and other African countries whose citizens are victims of this visa business, but also of humiliating treatment, should demand the return of part of the expenses incurred and/or apply reciprocity," he suggests.
GMS announces that it will continue to appeal to the Senegalese government to ensure that this issue is brought into the public and diplomatic debate.
