Vol de 13 moutons à Pekesse : O. Sow écope de 4 mois de prison ferme
O. Sow appeared this Friday, May 22, before the Thiès court of flagrant offenses for a case of theft involving thirteen sheep belonging to M. Sow and D. Sow. The events took place in the locality of Pékesse.
In court, the defendant denied the accusations. Regarding Mr. Sow's sheep, he maintained that he had bought them legally and not stolen them. As for the nine sheep belonging to D. Sow, he categorically denied any involvement.
The plaintiff, Mr. Sow, contested this version of events. He asserted that he had never sold his animals to the defendant and maintained that the latter had indeed stolen five of his sheep before returning one. He explained that he had found one of the animals at the home of a man named P. Sow, who had told him that the sheep had been given to him by O. Sow.
For his part, D. Sow stated that his nine sheep had also been stolen by the defendant. According to him, the animals' tracks led to the discovery of the tied-up sheep in the bush, in the presence of O. Sow and two other individuals who are currently at large. The defendant had also fled before finally being apprehended.
Both plaintiffs have each claimed the sum of 500,000 CFA francs in damages.
Considering the facts sufficiently established, the public prosecutor requested a sentence of two years imprisonment against O. Sow.
The judge acquitted the defendant of the theft of D. Sow's sheep due to reasonable doubt. Regarding the theft of M. Sow's sheep, the court reclassified the charges as receiving stolen goods and found O. Sow guilty on this count, sentencing him to four months in prison and ordering him to pay 150,000 FCFA in damages to the plaintiff, M. Sow.
