Yoff : le styliste, le musicien et la plaquette de drogue dure
Fashion designer M. Cardeau and musician J. Lawson, residents of Yoff and Ouest-Foire respectively, were arrested and brought before the prosecutor by the DIC (Criminal Investigation Division) for conspiracy, offering, and supplying hard drugs. According to Libération, which broke the story, the pair were apprehended following a tip-off alleging the existence of a hashish trafficking network in Yoff involving Cardeau and Lawson.
Upon arriving at the scene, investigators spotted the suspects inside a Ford. They arrested and searched them. Police discovered a bag containing half a 50-gram slab of hashish in the stylist's possession.
Contesting the drug trafficking charges, Mr. Cardeau and J. Lawson claim they were merely users. "They stated they arranged to meet in Yoff to obtain and consume the substance," reports Libération. The newspaper indicates that Mr. Cardeau admitted to owning the drugs, which he said he purchased for 140,000 CFA francs from a supplier he found on Yoff beach, without providing further details.
"For his part," the newspaper continues, "Lawson maintained that he was merely a user and had accepted an invitation from his longtime friend Mr. Cardeau to join him in using drugs."
