Yoff : Six membres d'un gang de voleurs dont un lutteur arrêtés par la Sûreté urbaine
A network specializing in the theft of two-wheelers put out of action!
The Dakar Central Police Station's Urban Security Service has dealt a severe blow to crime in the Yoff area. Following a tip-off, police officers dismantled a gang specializing in motorcycle theft, arresting six individuals, including a wrestler.
The operation follows information received by the police, reporting a group of individuals stealing motorcycles in the Yoff area. The Urban Security Service immediately set up a surveillance system which proved successful.
Six suspects arrested, one wrestler among them
The investigations led to the arrest of six individuals with varied profiles:
P. Guèye, wrestler living in Diamaguène, A. Ndiaye, "jakarta" (motorcycle taxi) driver, born in 2007 in Yoff, A. Gomis, restaurateur
A. Dia, delivery man, C. Niang, mechanic
and A. Dramé, motorcycle taxi driver.
Stolen motorcycle found in their possession
At the time of their arrest, the suspects were riding two motorcycles. One of them turned out to be stolen. Urban Security investigators were able to identify and contact the legitimate owner of the stolen vehicle.
The six members of the dismantled gang were taken into custody for gang robbery committed at night with the use of means of transport and criminal conspiracy according to Seneweb sources.
The seized motorcycles were taken to the Central Police Station in Dakar, under the command of Divisional Commissioner Mamadou Tendeng.

La régularisation des motos est un échec. Ce régime est champion dans les effets d'annonce mais ne va pas jusqu'au bout. La majorité des motos Jakarta et scooters n'ont pas de numéros d'immatriculation et les conducteurs ne portent pas de casques. Les vols à l'arraché et les vols de motos ne baisseront pas si toutes les motos non immatriculées ne sont pas mises aux arrêts Grosse déception.
