Ziguinchor : Plusieurs quartiers de la commune privés d'eau
Several neighborhoods in the municipality of Ziguinchor have been affected by a malfunction in the water distribution system for a week.
To obtain the precious liquid, you have to wait until night between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. to see the water flowing from the taps in areas like Castor, Diabir Loti and Diabir extension, part of Kénia.
And from 8 a.m. onwards, the taps run dry in most outlying neighborhoods like Alwar and Kandialang. In these areas, while the water pressure rises around 7 p.m., this isn't the case elsewhere, where residents have to wait until 10 p.m. And this ordeal has been going on since Sunday, January 25, 2026.
To compensate for this lack of water from Sen'Eau, people are flocking to the few wells in the neighborhoods or the mini-boreholes installed in some houses.
No official statement has been published on this subject by Sen'Eau and SONES.
