Bundesliga : Un Germano-sénégalais nommé entraîneur du Werder Brême
In Germany, Werder Bremen waited only 72 hours to learn the name of their new coach. The Green and Whites' management announced on Wednesday that they had chosen the German-Senegalese coach Daniel Thioune.
The 51-year-old coach has taken over the reins of the team following Horst Steffen's dismissal after a long run of 10 games without a win. Although he has never coached in the Bundesliga, Werder's management, particularly CEO Clemens Fritz, felt that "his vision of football, his personality, and his approach to the club's current situation could help the team turn things around." It's worth noting that the Green and Whites are currently 15th in the standings.
"I am convinced that we will succeed in collaborating effectively and achieving the club's objectives."
The German-Senegalese player's mission will therefore be to stabilize the club in its fight to avoid relegation. He is certainly ready for the challenge, with everyone's support, of course.
“I am looking forward to working with the team and I am confident that we will be able to collaborate effectively and achieve the club’s objectives. After very positive discussions with the management, it quickly became clear to me that I wanted to join Werder,” he said.
Former coach of Fortuna Dusseldorf
Before joining the Green and Whites, Daniel Thioune mainly coached in Bundesliga 2. His only achievement so far is having led Fortuna Dusseldorf to the brink of promotion to the Bundesliga in 2024. The club narrowly missed out on promotion to the top flight in the play-offs against Bochum.
