CAN-2025 : Achraf Hakimi brise le silence après la défaite du Maroc en finale
African Footballer of the Year 2025, Achraf Hakimi was one of the stars of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Despite being hampered by an injury at the start of the tournament, the Paris Saint-Germain right-back was able to play a few matches with the Atlas Lions. He was notably selected by his coach, Walid Regragui, for the final against Senegal.
The Madrid native experienced his team's defeat firsthand. A heartbreaking moment that left him speechless for 24 hours.
"After difficult days trying to process everything that has happened..."
It was only yesterday, Tuesday, that the 2025 African Ballon d'Or winner recovered from his emotions, posting a strong message on his Instagram account.
“After some difficult days, trying to process everything that happened, I needed to express myself from the heart… I want to thank Walid Regragui and his entire staff from the bottom of my heart, but especially my teammates for the hard work, commitment, and enormous sacrifice we made together during this Africa Cup of Nations. It was 35 days of living together, constant effort, discipline, and unity. A group that showed the world that Morocco doesn't just compete: Morocco inspires,” wrote the 27-year-old player. For him, the Moroccan national team has now become “a strong, respected, and admired team, reflecting a country that is moving forward with confidence and showing that it belongs among the great footballing nations.”
"With this mindset, this unity, and this ambition, there are no limits to what…"
“Every training session, every match, and every shared moment embodied great values: respect, selflessness, humility, and immense pride in representing an entire nation. We carried the name of Morocco with honor and instilled hope in millions of people, both at home and beyond our borders,” he continued. The PSG right-back remains convinced that “the journey doesn’t end” with the defeat in the AFCON final.
“What we have experienced provides a solid foundation for the future. With this mindset, this unity and this ambition, there are no limits to what this team can achieve. The future is built from what we sow today,” he asserted.

Monsieur
