Coupe du monde 2026 : cinq nouveaux qualifiés en Europe
The group stages of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers for the European zone concluded on Tuesday. Five new countries secured their place at the World Cup.
In Group E, Spain, despite their home draw against Turkey (2-2), finished in first place, leaving the play-off spot to the Turks.
In Group C, Scotland won the "final" against Denmark (4-2). Thanks to this victory, the Scots, who had not participated in a World Cup since 1998 in France, return to the grand spectacle of world football.
In Group H, Austria and Bosnia battled for first place. The Bosnians, who opened the scoring in the 12th minute through Tabakovic, held direct qualification until the 77th minute when Michael Gregoritsch equalized. Thanks to this draw at home, Austria secured their place in the North American tournament. As for Bosnia, they will have to go through the playoffs.
In Group J, Belgium secured their qualification by crushing Liechtenstein (7-0).
Finally, in Group B, Switzerland takes the lead. The Nati, who secured a valuable point in Kosovo (1-1), have qualified for the World Cup.
