Coupe du monde 2026 : le Ghana avec Semenyo, sans Kudus ni André Ayew
Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz has unveiled an extended list of 28 players selected for the 2026 World Cup preparation camp. The selection is marked by several high-profile absences, notably those of Mohammed Kudus, who is out due to injury, and veteran André Ayew.
On the other hand, the Portuguese coach will be able to count on Manchester City striker Antoine Semenyo, who is expected to play a major role in the Black Stars' attacking play during the tournament.
This preliminary selection includes five goalkeepers, suggesting that few changes are expected among the outfield players before the final 26-man squad for the World Cup is announced.
The French league is well represented with six players from Ligue 1. Among them are three from AJ Auxerre: right-back Marvin Senaya, left-back Gideon Mensah, and midfielder Elisha Owusu. Defender Alidu Seidu from Stade Rennais FC and Kojo Peprah Oppong from OGC Nice also bolster the defense.
In attack, the inclusion of Ernest Nuamah is one of the surprises on this list. The Olympique Lyonnais winger has only played a few minutes in Ligue 1 after a long thirteen-month absence due to injury. Saint-Étienne's Augustine Boakye is also among the players called up.
Placed in Group L of the 2026 World Cup, Ghana will face Panama, England and Croatia in the group stage.
