Coupes européennes : Moussa Niakhaté buteur, Mamadou Sarr domine Ismaïla Sarr
After the Champions League, the Senegalese players were back in action for the fourth matchday of the Europa League and the Europa Conference League. Traveling to Serbia to face Maccabi Tel Aviv of Israel, Olympique Lyonnais, with Moussa Niakhaté in their ranks, secured a resounding 6-0 victory. The solid Senegalese center-back distinguished himself by scoring Lyon's third goal from the penalty spot in the 35th minute. Thanks to this emphatic win, Lyon sits atop their Europa League group.
Despite being beaten by AS Roma (2-1), the Danish team Midtjylland, with young Ousmane Diao starting in central defence, nevertheless retain their second place with the same number of points as Lyon (12 pts).
Bottom of the table, Nice, with Antoine Mendy and Yehvann Diouf both in the starting lineup, suffered a fourth consecutive defeat, losing to FC Porto (3-0).
In the Europa Conference League, Strasbourg, with Mamadou Sarr starting in central defense, defeated Crystal Palace, featuring Ismaïla Sarr (2-1). Rayo Vallecano, with Pathé Ciss in the starting lineup but without Nobel Mendy, lost in Slovakia to Slovan Bratislava (2-1).
Despite being without their Senegalese striker Cherif Ndiaye, Samsunspor still managed to secure a point away at Breidablik (2-2). Thanks to this valuable draw, Samsunspor (10 pts) remain top of their group, level on points with Mamadou Sarr's Strasbourg.
