Équipe nationale du Sénégal : Ibrahim Mbaye, un “Titi” chez les Lions
At just 17 years old, Ibrahim Mbaye has decided to join the Senegalese national team. A bold and unprecedented decision.
Indeed, the Paris Saint-Germain striker becomes the youngest player from the diaspora to join the Senegalese national team, proof of his maturity despite his young age.
A product of PSG's youth academy, Ibrahim Mbaye (1.75 m; 69 kg) quickly impressed Spanish manager Luis Enrique, who didn't hesitate to give him his Ligue 1 debut. On August 16, 2024, he made his professional debut, starting in the opening match of the Ligue 1 season, a 4-1 victory against Le Havre AC. He thus became the youngest player to start an official match for PSG.
Awarded the "Titi d'Or," a title given by the Parisian players to the club's best young player for 2024, he signed his first professional contract at the beginning of 2025, despite being courted by several European clubs. On March 25, he became the third youngest goalscorer in PSG history, scoring his first professional goal in a resounding 6-1 victory against AS Saint-Étienne.
Taking advantage of Luis Enrique's confidence, he finished the season with a historic treble: league title, French Cup and Champions League, even though he remained on the bench during the two finals.
By joining the Senegal national team, Ibrahim Mbaye will now have the opportunity to learn and progress alongside experienced players such as Sadio Mané, Idrissa Gana Guèye or Kalidou Koulibaly, who will undoubtedly support him for a quick and successful integration.
