Guédiawaye FC : «Lat Diop coordonne la gestion du club depuis sa cellule »
Guédiawaye Football Club (GFC) is entering the 2025-2026 season in deep uncertainty, facing a triple crisis affecting its management, its workforce, and its infrastructure. The specialist newspaper Record notes that despite tensions within its governing bodies, the club is managing to ensure continuity. President Lat Diop is coordinating the club's management from his office. In an effort to "elegantly" face his absence, the management has postponed the general meeting and discussions on purchasing 40% of the club.
On the squad side, the sports daily continues, the club is facing a cascade of departures: coach Ansou Diadhiou left the club after two and a half years and was replaced by former player Abdoul Mbaye, supported by Alioune Mbaye.
The defense is particularly decimated: left-back Gilbert Mendy has left for Turkey, Madieng Ndiaye has joined Jaraaf, and Alassanel Sagna has opted for Cambérène. Replacements have been identified within Navétanes (such as ASC Santhie Bi), but GFC must now rebuild an entire defensive line.
Amadou Barry still closed
The infrastructure problem is critical. The Amadou Barry Stadium remains closed, and the Ndiarème Stadium is not up to standard. GFC could use the Birane Ly Stadium in Parcelles Assainies, but it is considered too small for major suburban matches, forcing the club to play its derbies in Thiès or Yoff in the past.
The supporters, although worried, hope for a quick reopening to be able to welcome the Linguère team to Amadou Barry from the third day, after two first matches played in Yoff and Parcelles Assainies, adds the same source.
