JOJ : Le Président Diomaye souligne l’impact
In 2026, Senegal will host the Youth Olympic Games (YOG). President Bassirou Diomaye Faye wants the competition to be a platform for sharing Olympic values such as fraternity, tolerance, and peace.
Regarding the impact of these games, the competition has not yet begun. However, investments have already been made in the construction and renovation of sports infrastructure. He emphasized that the country's chosen approach is to decentralize to the municipal level in order to democratize sports participation.
"This will already contribute to greater socialization, strengthening social cohesion and allowing everyone to practice the sport they want, wherever they are, within the country," said the head of state at the Africa Forward summit in Kenya.
He said that nearly 132,000 people are still working on the Youth Olympic Games construction sites. "And in terms of legacy, we will have an infrastructural legacy and know-how that will be acquired in collaboration with all the partnerships we have established around the organization of this event," the Head of State rejoiced.
