“I already said it during the last match: efficiency is essential. Today, we were able to find it. In this competition, it’s very important, because scoring early frees up the team, frees up the game and makes a lot of things easier,” the player explained.
For the Lions' winger, this mindset must remain constant throughout the tournament:
"Regardless of how the match unfolds, whenever we have opportunities, we must know how to take advantage of them. Today, we did that and we are very happy about it."
When questioned about the tactical adjustments made, particularly the return to a three-man midfield after more attacking matches, Krépin Diatta justified this choice by the context of the match:
"We had to adapt. It wasn't an easy match. There were also personal factors to consider, so I discussed them with the coach. The main objective was to manage the game and protect the result to avoid getting a card."
Satisfied with his performance, the player believes he fulfilled his role on the field:
"I did what was essential. I did everything necessary to maintain the lead. Behind us, we have very high-quality players. Antoine, for example, is an excellent player. The team helped me a lot."
Clear-headed and focused on the rest of the competition, Krépin Diatta concludes:
"I think I did what was necessary. In this kind of competition, the important thing is to be there at the right time."
